The Portland Trail Blazers and Los Angeles Clippers play a Thursday night NBA preseason game at the STAPLES Center on TNT.
The Portland Trail Blazers are gaining some confidence after getting off to a strong 3-0 preseason start. The Trail Blazers have scored 98 or more points in all three games and are coming off a win over the Los Angeles Lakers in which they made 11 threes. Damian Lillard has scored 48 points in his last 51 minutes of play and C.J. McCollum has 29 points and 11 assists. Maurice Harkless has grabbed 16 rebounds 63 minutes and Mason Plumlee has produced 24 points and 21 rebounds in three preseason games. The Portland Trail Blazers were my favorite team to watch and back last season, as they’re a team on the rise and have dark horse potential in the West. And while it’s just the preseason, the Portland Trail Blazers are a team that clearly thinks it can build on last seasons success.

The Los Angeles Clippers are off to a 1-2 preseason start and will play their third straight home game. The Clippers have scored 94 or less points in two or their three games and are coming off a loss to the Utah Jazz in which they shot 40 percent from the field. Chris Paul has 21 points and 20 assists in his last two games while Blake Griffin has combined for 43 points and 17 rebounds. DeAndre Jordan has racked up 20 points and 21 rebounds and Paul Pierce has produced nine points in 18 minutes of play. The Los Angeles Clippers don’t have much to prove in the preseason, as they’re a team that’s been around forever and has eyes on a NBA title run. However, you’d like to see a crisper offense from the Clippers before the regular season begins.
The Trail Blazers are 1-8 ATS in their last 9 after scoring 100 points or more in their previous game and the over is 8-1 in Trail Blazers last 9 Thursday games. The Clippers are 2-9 ATS in their last 11 games playing on 2 days rest and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 home games. The under is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings.
The Los Angeles Clippers are due for a breakout performance and should get it at home against a Portland Trail Blazers team that can be shaky on the road. The Clippers should be able to get the job done here and cover yet another home game.
