The Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs play an NBA preseason game Friday night at the AT&T Center.
The Miami Heat are off to a 2-1 preseason start and are playing their second road game. The Heat are coming off a win over the Brooklyn Nets in which they shot 50 percent from the field and made 12 threes. Hassan Whiteside has racked up 58 points and 39 rebounds in three games while Goran Dragic has produced 33 points and 16 assists in his last 56 minutes. Tyler Johnson has racked up 26 points and five assists in three games while Derrick Williams has 31 points and 15 rebounds overall. The Miami Heat have looked sharp in the preseason and are getting a lot of contributions from role players. Many are expecting the Heat to be a lottery team this season, but Miami looks like a team with a chip on its shoulder and eager to surprise some folks.
USA TODAY Sports
The San Antonio Spurs have won three straight preseason games are off to a strong 3-1 start overall. The Spurs are coming off a win over the Orlando Magic in which they shot 38.8 percent from the field and made 11 threes. Pau Gasol has 25 points and seven rebounds in his last two games while LaMarcus Aldridge has topped double-digit points in three straight games. Patty Mills has 17 points and four assists in 32 preseason minutes while Tony Parker has played 36 minutes of preseason action. The San Antonio Spurs continue to monitor their veterans minutes and are making sure their younger guys get plenty of chances to prove themselves. However, with just two preseason games left, the Spurs are likely going to play their starters a tad bit more in this contest.
The Heat are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games playing on 2 days rest and 12-3 ATS in their last 15 Friday games. The Spurs are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games playing on 1 days rest and the under is 6-1 in Spurs last 7 home games. The Heat are 1-6 ATS in the last 7 meetings in San Antonio and 0-7 ATS in the last 7 meetings overall.
Both teams have shown the ability to put the ball in the hoop this preseason and the Spurs are likely going to play their starters a bit with this being one of their last games. Not a fan of the line, so I'm going to side with the over in this spot.
