Madison Square Garden will be electric when the Boston Celtics take on the New York Knicks.
The Boston Celtics went back and forth with Brooklyn for 48 minutes before emerging with a 100-97 victory as a five point favorite. The Celtics seemed ready to pull away on several occasions and each time the Nets responded to stay competitive. Boston won the shooting battle 41.7%-38% which added up to a few more field goals but the margin of victory would have been higher if not for an 8-29 mark on three pointers. The balanced Boston attack featured six double digit scorers with Marcus Smart and Al Horford scoring 13 points each with Horford snaring nine boards followed by 12 point efforts from Jonas Jerebko and Isaiah Thomas. Jaylen Brown and Terry Rozier each added ten points with Rozier handing out seven assists but in the end the Celtics shot too many threes.

The New York Knicks should be well rested as they played last Sunday in a 90-88 win versus the visiting Wizards as four point favorites. As has been part of the NBA preseason there were a few wild scoring swings where each team seemed to be taking over which generally means coaches are subbing in a lot of players. Washington shot the ball slightly better at 44%-41% but a 3-21 from beyond he arc was decisive with New York sinking 13 bombs in a sloppy contest that featured 43 combined turnovers. Carmelo Anthony led the NYK offense with 19 points on 7-11 with Kristaps Porzingis netting 15 points and snaring six pulls while Brandon Jennings and Lance Thomas tossed in eleven points apiece.
The under is 6-1 in Celtics last 7 overall and the under is 5-1 in Celtics last 6 road games while going 13-3 in Celtics last 16 games playing on 1 days rest. The under is 5-0 in Knicks last 5 Saturday games and the over is 5-0 in Knicks last 5 games playing on 3 or more days rest while the under is 20-6 in Knicks last 26 overall. The under is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings and the under is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings in New York.
I don't know what kind of lineups we see as we get closer to the regular season but as a Celtics fan I want to see what talent the team has...
