The Charlotte Hornets and Chicago Bulls play a Monday night NBA preseason game at the United Center on NBATV.
The Charlotte Hornets are 1-3 in preseason play but are coming off their first victory last week. In the win over the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Hornets shot 43.5 percent from the field and made 12 threes. Kemba Walker has produced 25 points and seven assists in three games while Marvin Williams has 27 points in 70 minutes of play. Nicolas Batum is coming off his first double-digit scoring performance and Jeremy Lamb has 41 points in his last three games. The Charlotte Hornets had issues putting the ball through the hoop in their first three games but are coming off their best performance yet. The Hornets are also well rested for this last preseason stretch after not playing a game in a week.
USA TODAY Sports
The Chicago Bulls have won their last three preseason games and are playing their fourth true home game. In the Bulls win over the Milwaukee Bucks, Chicago shot 46.8 percent from the field and made 13 threes. Bobby Portis has grabbed 37 rebounds in five games while Doug McDermott has 33 points in his last 56 minutes of play. Dwyane Wade and Jimmy Butler got the night Saturday and should be fresh for the last few preseason games. The Chicago Bulls have made 22 threes in their last two games, which isn’t the sort of team many expected to see, preseason or not. The Bulls now need to figure out how Michael Carter-Williams fits in their system after trading Tony Snell for the rookie of the year point guard.
The Hornets are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games playing on 3 or more days rest and the under 5-0 in Hornets last 5 overall. The Bulls are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 Monday games and the over is 3-1-1 in Bulls last 5 overall. The Hornets are 7-2 ATS in the last 9 meetings in Chicago and 4-0 ATS in the last 4 meetings overall.
The Chicago Bulls are playing some great preseason ball and now have a rested Wade and Butler to throw in this contest. Not to mention Chicago has to play its starters a bit now that Carter-Williams is on the team and needs to get comfortable with the team. I like the Bulls and the small line.
