The Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks play a NBA preseason game Wednesday night at the American Airlines Center.
The Houston Rockets are 4-1 in preseason play and are coming off a double-overtime loss to the Memphis Grizzlies. In the loss, the Rockets shot 42.6 percent from the field and turned the ball over 24 times. James Harden has racked up 28 points and 17 assists in his last two games while Ryan Anderson has 11 or more points in four of the five games. Trevor Ariza has made seven threes and Nene Hilario has 12 points and five rebounds in his last 26 minutes. The Houston Rockets have scored no less than 116 points in every game this preseason, proving that coach Mike D'Antoni is making an impact early with his new ballclub. If the Rockets can score like this in the regular season, you have another contender in the Western Conference.
USA TODAY Sports
The Dallas Mavericks are 2-3 in preseason play and are fresh off a loss to the Phoenix Suns. In the loss, the Mavericks shot 42.9 percent from the field and shot 50 percent from deep. Dirk Nowitzki has 18 points and eight rebounds in 36 minutes of play while Andrew Bogut has produced eight points and 27 rebounds in three games. Deron Williams 31 points and five assists in three games while Harrison Barnes is 7-24 from the field in his last three games. The Dallas Mavericks have done a nice job of limiting their stars minutes and keeping their aging roster fresh for the regular season. The concern for the Mavs remains the play of Barnes, as he must break out of his funk and be more consistent with his shot for Dallas to have a chance to make the playoffs.
The under is 4-0 in Rockets last 4 Wednesday games and 5-1 in Rockets last 6 overall. The Mavericks are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games following a ATS loss and the under is 13-3-1 in Mavericks last 17 Wednesday games. The Rockets are 10-4 ATS in the last 14 meetings.
The Houston Rockets have been a scoring machine this preseason and that's bad news for a slower, older Dallas Mavericks squad. It doesn't matter who the Rockets have played this preseason, they've topped 110 points in every game. I'll gladly take an extra bucket on top of those points.
