The Miami Heat and Charlotte Hornets play a NBA preseason game Thursday night at the Time Warner Cable Arena.
The Miami Heat are 4-2 in preseason play and will enjoy their last road exhibition game. In the Heat’s win over the Orlando Magic, Miami shot 51.2 percent from the field and made 10 threes. Goran Dragic has produced 39 points and 22 assists in his last three games while Willie Reed is coming off a double-double against the Magic. Hassan Whiteside didn’t play in Miami’s last game and is day-to-day as he’s dealing with a death in his family. The Miami Heat have been exciting in the preseason and are playing with a quicker pace with Dragic and a younger core controlling the offense. The Heat may not have the stars they used to have, but Miami has a group of young guys eager to prove themselves in this league.

The Charlotte Hornets look to build on back-to-back preseason wins and will play their last home exhibition game. In the Hornets win over the Chicago Bulls, Charlotte shot 33.3 percent from the field and turned the ball over nine times. Kemba Walker has 26 points and five assists in his last 51 minutes of play while Marvin Williams has 20 points and eight rebounds in his last two games. Nicolas Batum has double-digit points in his last two games and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist has has 30 preseason rebounds. The Charlotte Hornets continue to struggle on the offensive end but are 2-0 in the preseason when Walker plays 20-plus minutes. The Hornets have to find more consistent depth outside of their starting lineup if Charlotte is going to make a return to the NBA playoffs.
The Heat are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 Thursday games and the under is 4-1 in Heat last 5 Thursday games. The Hornets are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 Thursday games and the under is 5-0 in Hornets last 5 overall. The Heat are 9-4 ATS in the last 13 meetings in Charlotte and the under is 5-0 in the last 5 meetings.
This is a lot of points to lay with a Miami Heat team that's been finding ways to win in the preseason and has been very impressive overall. The Hornets have struggled on the offensive end for much of the preseason, so laying this type of number doesn't make much sense. I'll take the Heat and my points.
