The Dallas Mavericks and Denver Nuggets end their NBA preseason with a Friday night matchup at the Pepsi Center.
The Dallas Mavericks are 2-4 in the preseason and are coming off a Wednesday loss to the Houston Rockets. In the loss, the Mavericks shot 37.3 percent from the field and made 7-32 threes. Dirk Nowitzki has 30 points and 13 rebounds in three preseason games while Wesley Matthews is coming off his first double-digit performance. Andrew Bogut has grabbed 34 preseason rebounds and Harrison Barnes is shooting 20.9 percent from the field in his last five games. The Dallas Mavericks are a veteran team, so there’s going to be no panic after poor showings in the preseason. However, the Mavs aren't going anywhere this season if Barnes doesn’t figure out how to put the ball through the hoop. As of right now, Barnes and that massive contract is looking like a bad deal for Dallas.

The Denver Nuggets have lost four of their last five preseason games and are coming off a Tuesday loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder. In the loss, the Nuggets shot 34.8 percent from the field and made four of 25 threes. Danilo Gallinari has scored 14 or more points in four preseason games while Nikola Jokic has 16 points and 14 rebounds in his last two games. Will Barton has 26 points and 11 assists in his last two games and Jusuf Nurkic has double-digit rebounds in three of his last five games. The Denver Nuggets is a team that’s grown up in the preseason and has to feel confident with the young core they have in place. If the Nuggets can get consistent play out of guys such as Emmanuel Mudiay and Gary Harris, Denver is going to be a team to watch in the Western Conference.
The Mavericks are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 Friday games and over is 6-1 in Mavericks last 7 Friday games. The Nuggets are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 home games and the over is 7-0 in Nuggets last 7 Friday games. The Mavericks are 8-3 ATS in the last 11 meetings in Denver and 4-1-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings overall.
Both teams have had trouble winning games this preseason but the Denver Nuggets youth is the difference here. Denver should be able to run the older Mavs into the ground. Not to mention Barnes forgot how to put the ball through the hoop. Look for the Nuggets to get the job done here.
