The Miami Heat and Orlando Magic open the 2016-17 NBA season Wednesday night at the Amway Center.
The Miami Heat will look like a completely different team when they take the court, as Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh are no longer around to carry the fort. The Heat will now go as far as Hassan Whiteside and Goran Dragic lead the way, and Miami can only hope Justise Winslow takes another step forward in his second season. Other than that, the Heat have a ton of one-year deal players eager to prove themselves such as Dion Waiters, Derrick Williams, James Johnson and Wayne Ellington. The Heat have the potential to be a hungry team that suprases expectations or things could get ugly very quickly. Either way, the Miami Heat have changed drastically from where they were five years ago. Rodney McGruder and Josh Richardson are questionable with injuries.

The Orlando Magic have a new coach in Frank Vogel and hope he’s the guy to lead the young team to where they’re trying to go. The Magic bolstered their frontcourt with the additions of Serge Ibaka and Bismack Biyombo, and they hope that added size and athleticism makes Orlando is a tougher team to score on. The Magic should also improve with another year of the young core including Evan Fournier, Elfrid Payton, Aaron Gordon and Mario Hezonja. There’s potential with this Magic roster, it’s just matter of fulfilling said potential and growing up. Keep in mind the Magic have just three players 30 years old or older. The Orlando Magic will be an interesting team to watch early. Biyombo is suspended for this game.
The Heat are 4-10 ATS in their last 14 road games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games playing on 3 or more days rest. The Magic are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 vs. NBA Southeast and 7-1 ATS in their last 8 home games. The Heat are 5-2 ATS in the last 7 meetings in Orlando and 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings overall.
The Magic aren't good enough to be worthy of this line, especially with no Biyombo to protect the paint. The Heat played well in the preseason and have some explosive players to lead the way. Expect the Heat to be much better offensively with Dragic leading the way. I like the Heat and the points here.
