The Chicago Bulls hope a few offseason moves can get the franchise back to the playoffs in the second season under coach Fred Hoiberg. The Bulls said goodbye to Derrick Rose, while bringing in the household names of Dwyane Wade, Robin Lopez and Rajon Rondo. Jimmy Butler has to be thrilled to have some help this season, but there’s going to be serious questions with the Bulls spacing. Nobody on the Chicago Bulls starting five is a great outside shooter, so I have to question if there’s enough offense for this team to make a jump. Still, you can’t deny the Bulls are going to be interesting given the star power. The Chicago Bulls have won three of their last four season openers. Cristiano Felicio is questionable with a neck injury.
The Celtics are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 Thursday games and 40-17-1 ATS in their last 58 games playing on 0 days rest. The Bulls are 13-4 ATS in their last 17 Thursday games and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games overall. The Celtics are 3-8-1 ATS in the last 12 meetings in Chicago and 7-15-2 ATS in the last 24 meetings overall.
Playing on the end of a back-to-back this early in the season against a team that's had rest doesn't help the road team here. The Bulls are going to have a good home crowd and the overall toughness of Chicago should wear down the Celtics who just played. I like the value of the Bulls at home and the free bucket.
