The Dallas Mavericks travel to Madison Square Garden to take on the New York Knicks on Monday night.
The Mavericks were aiming for a third straight win in their last outing, but instead they were humbled in a 116-95 blowout loss at Golden State on Wednesday. Harrison Barnes led the team in scoring with 25 points, Justin Anderson added 16 points while Dwight Powell chipped in with 14 points but this game was really over before halftime as the Warriors overwhelmed the Mavs right from the tipoff and led by 64-36 going into halftime. Dallas would come out of the break and make inroads against the Warriors' inferior second unit, but their poor start just left themselves too much ground to make up. With the loss, Dallas falls to 2-6 overall and 1-4 on the road.

Meanwhile, the Knicks have lost three of their last four games and are in danger of losing a third straight after losing at Toronto by 118-107 on Saturday. Carmelo Anthony led the team with 31 points while Kristaps Porzingis and Derrick Rose chipped in with 21 points apiece, but the Knicks' troubles on defense were once again on show as they sent the Raptors to the free throw line 38 times and no one could guard the Raptors' DeMar DeRozan. With the loss, New York drops to 3-6 overall, 1-4 on the road and 0-2 on the second night of back to back sets.
In ATS trends, the Mavs are 4-0 ATS in their last four games against a team with a losing record and 9-4 ATS in their last 13 after allowing 100 points or more in their previous game, while the Knicks are 4-1 ATS in their last five against a team with a losing record and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall.
Head to head, the Mavs are 10-4 ATS in the last 14 meetings in New York and the road team is 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings overall.
Neither team is coming into this game with any momentum but with Nowitzki officially listed as a game time call, I'm leaning towards the Mavs to get their season on track with a win here, but I can't say I'm all that confident about it.
