The New Orleans Pelicans invade the American Airlines Center to battle the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday night.
The Pelicans will be looking to get back to winning ways after having their four-game win streak snapped with a 119-104 loss at Portland on Friday. Anthony Davis led from the front with 31 points, 13 rebounds, two assists and five blocks, Jrue Holiday added 16 points off the bench while E'Twaun Moore chipped in with 15 points as the Pelicans shot 47.4 percent from the field and 13 of 23 from the 3-point line. However, the problems were on the defensive end as the Pelicans allowed the Trailblazers to grab a total of 12 offensive rebounds which led to 23 second-chance points, a major reason why the Blazers had already topped 100 points going into the fourth quarter. With the loss, New Orleans falls to 6-11 overall and 2-6 on the road.

Meanwhile, the Mavericks are coming off their eighth straight loss, falling to the Cavaliers in a 128-90 blowout on Friday. Dirk Nowitzki returned to the court and led the team with 15 points while Deron Williams had just four points and five assists in his return as the Mavs were simply outplayed by the Cavs in every facet of the game. In fact, the Mavs were down by 20 points after the first quarter and 34 points after the first half which meant that no starter played more than 30 minutes. With the loss, Dallas falls to 2-13 overall and 1-9 on the road.
Looking at the betting trends, the Pelicans are 6-1 ATS in their last seven games overall and 4-1 ATS in their last five games following a loss, while the Mavs are 1-6 ATS in their last seven games following a loss and 1-7 ATS in their last eight home games.
Head to head, the Under is 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall and 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Dallas.
The Mavs will want to bounce back from their latest loss but it's hard to back them given how poor they looked against the Clippers on Friday. Instead, I'm taking the Pelicans who were riding a four-game win streak before Friday's loss.
