The Atlanta Hawks fly into the Talking Stick Resort Arena tonight to battle the Phoenix Suns.
The Hawks have lost six of their last seven games and will be dying to snap a three-game skid after falling just short in a 105-100 defeat at Golden State on Monday. Dennis Schroder led the team with 24 points, Dwight Howard and Paul Millsap added 14 points each while Tim Hardaway Jr. chipped in with 10 points off the bench but the Hawks fell just short against the stacked Warriors lineup. Still, I classify that loss as a positive sign because of the way the Hawks competed, winning the rebound battle by 62-50, swiping 11 steals and getting to the free throw line. With the loss, Atlanta fall to 10-8 overall and 4-6 on the road.

Meanwhile, the Suns have lost four of their last five games and are coming off a 120-114 loss to the Nuggets. Eric Bledsoe had a monster game of 35 points with six rebounds, six assists, two steals and two blocks, Devin Booker added 30 points while PJ Tucker chipped in with 21 points but it still wasn't enough to get past the Nuggets. The Suns just left themselves too much ground to make up after the Nuggets outscored them by 34-15 in the second quarter, but the Suns will be buoyed by the fact that they poured on 71 points in the second half. With the loss, Phoenix drops to 5-13 overall and 2-5 at home.
Looking at the betting trends, the Hawks are 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall and 5-14 ATS in their last 19 road games, while the Suns are 4-0 ATS in their last four games against a team with a winning record and 20-6 ATS in their last 26 games following a loss.
Head to head, the Hawks are 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings in Phoenix and 4-11 ATS in the last 15 meetings overall.
The Hawks have really been piling on the losses lately, but their latest performance against the Warriors has me optimistic about their comeback and I think that it starts tonight. Take Atlanta to beat the Suns and win this one by double digits.
