The Memphis Grizzlies play host to the San Antonio Spurs in Game 4 at the FedExForum on Saturday night.
The Memphis Grizzlies looked absolutely outmatched in the first two games of the series, but to their credit, they rallied behind coach Fizdale and took down the Spurs by 105-94 in Game 3. Mike Conley led the team with 24 points and eight assists, Zach Randolph chipped in with 21 points in a rare start, Marc Gasol added 21 points while James Ennis chipped in with 12 points. As a team, the Grizzlies shot 47 percent from the field and 10 of 24 from the three-point line but this win was about the Grizzlies’ defense, particularly in the third quarter where they outscored the Spurs by 31-17, giving them an unassailable 18-point lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Meanwhile, the Spurs may have been a little overconfident coming into this game after winning so easily in the first two games of the series. Kawhi Leonard scored a combined 69 points in Games 1 and 2 but was held to just 16 points. LaMarcus Aldridge added 16 points while Kyle Anderson chipped in with 15 points off the bench, but the Spurs clearly didn’t play with the same level of desperation as the Grizzlies and it showed on the defensive end as the Grizzlies shot got high percentage shots all night while committing just five turnovers.
Looking at the betting trends, the Spurs are 4-1-1 ATS in their last six games following a loss, 6-2 ATS in their last eight Conference Quarterfinals games and 1-5 ATS in their last six games following a loss of more than 10 points. Meanwhile, the Grizzlies are 2-6-1 ATS in their last nine Conference Quarterfinals games, 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games after scoring 100 points or more in their previous game.
Head to head, the Spurs are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings in Memphis and 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings overall while the home team is 8-3 ATS in the last 11 meetings.
Coach Fizdale spoke up for his team and the Grizzlies players rallied behind their coach to put away the Spurs in Game 3, but the question remains whether they can repeat that performance to level the series. The Grizzlies found a way to quiet Leonard quiet in Game 3 but I think he bounces back with another big performance, so I'm taking the Spurs to take control of this series with a single-digit victory in this one.
