The Washington Wizards and Miami Heat meet Wednesday in NBA preseason action at the AmericanAirlines Arena.
The Washington Wizards look to build on their 3-0 preseason start when they take the road for the first time. In a win over the Cavaliers, the Wizards shot 43 percent from the field and had 22 turnovers. Kelly Oubre Jr. led the Wizards with 12 points and five rebounds while Bradley Beal had 11 points and one assist. Donald Sloan was the third double-digit scorer and Mike Scott grabbed five rebounds. John Wall played just seven minutes in Washington’s victory. The Wizards have topped 100 points in all three preseason games and seem to be a confident bunch, as they’re getting solid play from majority of the roster. The Washington Wizards have won their last five preseason games.
The Miami Heat look to remain unbeaten at home in preseason play and add to their 2-2 record. In a win over the Hornets, the Heat shot 49.4 percent from the field and had 20 turnovers. Josh Richardson led the Heat with 18 points and two blocks while Kelly Olynyk had 13 points and 12 rebounds. Hassan Whiteside was the third double-digit scorer and Justise Winslow grabbed five rebounds. The Heat have found ways to win both games at home, but they’re still playing sloppy basketball overall and are trying to figure out who should start at the forward position. The Heat have two more games to figure things out. The Miami Heat have split their last 12 preseason games.
The Wizards are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 road games and the over is 6-2 in Wizards last 8 overall. The Heat are 14-2 ATS in their last 16 Wednesday games, 0-5 ATS in their last 5 home games and the over is 6-1 in Heat last 7 Wednesday games. The Wizards are 1-4 ATS in the last 5 meetings and the over is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings.
In a preseason game where we're getting pretty much a toss-up line, I'm usually going to lean with the home team. The Heat are the deeper basketball team and are unbeaten at home. The Wizards are on the road for the first time and can struggle defensively from time to time. I'll side with the Heat and lay the one point.
