The Dallas Mavericks and Charlotte Hornets meet Friday in NBA preseason action at the Spectrum Center.
The Dallas Mavericks look for another preseason victory to build on their 4-1 record. In a win over the Atlanta Hawks, the Mavericks shot 49.4 percent from the field and made 19 threes. Maximilian Kleber led the Mavericks with 16 points and four rebounds while PJ Dozier had 16 points and one assist. Yogi Ferrell was the third double-digit scorer and Dwight Powell dished four assists. The Mavericks only preseason loss this season was on the road against the Orlando Magic when none of their key players played due to being on the end of a back-to-back. So, it’s going to be interesting to see how the Mavs manage this game with it being in the same spot. The Mavericks have made 30 threes in their last two games. The Dallas Mavericks have split their last eight preseason games.

The Charlotte Hornets could use a feel good victory after a 1-3 preseason record. In a loss to the Boston Celtics, the Hornets shot 42 percent from the field and made 13 threes. Malik Monk led the Hornets with 21 points and six rebounds while Kemba Walker had 12 points and six assists. Dwight Howard was the third double-digit scorer and Cody Zeller grabbed nine rebounds. The Hornets have allowed 100-plus points in their last three games and have given up 37 threes during that span. The good news for the Hornets is that they’re showing signs of offensive depth, especially Monk, who has 40 points in his last two games and is proving he’s capable of being an immediate contributor. That’s key with Nicolas Batum being out for an extended period of time. The Charlotte Hornets have lost four of their last five preseason games.
The Mavericks are 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 games playing on 0 days rest, 0-4 ATS in their last 4 Friday games and 1-4-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall. The Hornets are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games overall and the over is 6-0 in Hornets last 6 home games. The Mavericks are 9-2 ATS in the last 11 meetings in Charlotte and the under is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in Charlotte.
Even though the Mavs aren't going to play any of their key players, we're still getting a 4-1 preseason team and six free points against a 1-3 preseason team that's had issues on the defensive end. These games are damn near impossible to find an edge, so get the points whenever you can.
