The Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers meet Friday in NBA preseason action at the STAPLES Center on TNT.
The Los Angeles Lakers look to end the preseason with a victory after a 1-4 record. In a loss to the Utah Jazz, the Lakers shot 44.4 percent from the field and had 18 turnovers. Kyle Kuzma led the Lakers with 18 points and four rebounds while Brandon Ingram had 13 points and three assists. Jordan Clarkson was the third double-digit scorer and Alex Caruso dished 10 assists. The Lakers have allowed 100-plus points in four of their five preseason games and are just 12-46 from three in their last two games. Needless to say, it’s going to be a long season in Los Angeles if these numbers carry over to the regular season. The Los Angeles Lakers have lost 10 of their last 12 preseason games.

The Los Angeles Clippers look for another victory to end preseason play with a winning record. In a win over the Kings, the Clippers shot 52 percent from the field and had 20 turnovers. Blake Griffin led the Clippers with 18 points and four rebounds while Lou Williams had 14 points and four assists. Wesley Johnson was the third double-digit scorer and Montrezl Harrell dished four assists. The Clippers are coming off possibly their best offensive performance of the preseason and are likely going to rest their key guys on the end of this back-to-back with the regular season right around the corner. The Clippers have won back-to-back preseason games just once in the last four years. The Los Angeles Clippers have split their last 10 preseason games.
The Lakers are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games overall and the under is 5-0 in Lakers last 5 overall. The Clippers are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games playing on 0 days rest, 0-4 ATS in their last 4 home games and the over is 4-1 in Clippers last 5 games playing on 0 days rest. The Lakers are 4-13 ATS in the last 17 meetings in Los Angeles and the under is 9-2 in the last 11 meetings.
The Lakers have done nothing this preseason to be worthy of being a favorite, as they're not getting stops defensively and the outside shooting simply is not there. Sure, the Clippers are likely shutting down all of their key players, but I want points in my pocket against a young Lakers team that finds ways to lose.
