The New Orleans Pelicans and Memphis Grizzlies meet Friday in NBA preseason action at the FedExForum.
The New Orleans Pelicans play their third straight road game and hope to rebound from a 1-2 start. In a loss to the Chicago Bulls, the Pelicans shot 42 percent from the field and had 21 turnovers. Anthony Davis led the Pelicans with 37 points and 15 rebounds while DeMarcus Cousins had 22 points and nine assists. Jrue Holiday was the third double-digit scorer and Ian Clark dished seven assists. The Pelicans are coming off their best game of the preseason in which their starters shined and they topped 100 points for the second time in three games. The Pelicans have to take better care of the basketball, but this will be a competitive team as long as Davis and Cousins can keep doing the heavy lifting. The New Orleans Pelicans have lost seven of their last nine preseason games.

The Memphis Grizzlies play their third home preseason game and are 2-2 overall. In a loss to the Houston Rockets, the Grizzlies shot 38 percent from the filed and had 18 turnovers. Andrew Harrison led the Grizzlies with 17 points and six rebounds while Marc Gasol had 12 points and four assists. Mario Chalmers was the third double-digit scorer and Mike Conley dished four assists. The Grizzlies have scored 92 or less points in three of their four preseason games and it has a lot to do with the lack of outside shooting. If the Grizzlies can’t space the floor and get easier offense, this is likely going to be a long season for Memphis fans. In fact, that string of seven straight playoff appearances will be in jeopardy. The Memphis Grizzlies have won five of their last eight preseason games.
The Pelicans are 1-8 ATS in their last 9 games playing on 3 or more days rest. The over is 4-0-1 in Grizzlies last 5 home games and 4-0 in Grizzlies last 4 overall. The under is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings in Memphis.
Even with the struggle shooting from the outside with Memphis, this total seems a bit too low when you consider it's the last preseason game and guys likely are playing not to get hurt or to stay fresh for when the games matter. We may see some subpar play on the defensive end, something we've seen the past couple of days with a lot of teams topping well over 100 points. So, give me the over in this spot.
