The Cleveland Cavaliers have lost six of their last eight games and they will be hoping to bounce back from Thursday’s 117-113 loss at Houston. LeBron James poured in 33 points on 15 of 24 shooting, Jeff Green scored a season-high 27 points off the bench while Kevin Love chipped in with 17 points. As a team, the Cavs shot 56 percent from the field and 12 of 27 from the three-point line as they poured in 42 points in the second quarter to claw back from an early 18-point deficit, only to fall just short in a tight finish. With the loss, Cleveland dropped to 5-7 on the season and 2-3 on the road.
Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks were able to snap a six-game skid with a hard-fought 113-99 win at Washington on Tuesday. Harrison Barnes led the way with 31 points and nine rebounds, Dennis Smith Jr. added 22 points with eight assists while Wesley Matthews chipped in with 14 points and six assists. As a team, the Mavs shot 47 percent from the field and they outrebounded the Wizards by 53-39. With the win, Dallas improved to 2-10 on the season and 1-5 on the road.
Looking at the betting trends, the Cavs are 11-4-1 ATS in their last 16 road games, 0-4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 2-7-1 ATS in their last 10 games overall.
Head to head, the Cavs are 2-8 ATS in the last 10 meetings overall and 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings in Dallas.
The Cavs have been struggling on the defensive end all season, but they were able to turn it on the fourth quarter against the Rockets to give themselves a chance on Thursday, so it was somewhat or a moral victory for them. Meanwhile, the Mavs will be well-rested as they haven’t played since Tuesday’s upset win over the Wizards. I want to take the Mavs with the points at home, but the Cavs have been slowly improving and should be good enough to get the win and cover in this one.
