The Brooklyn Nets and the Dallas Mavericks do battle at the American Airlines Center on Wednesday.
The Brooklyn Nets have lost six of their last eight games and they will be hoping to bounce back from Monday’s 117-103 loss at Houston. Isaiah Whitehead led the team with 24 points, Spencer Dinwiddie added 14 points while Caris LeVert chipped in with 13 points and six assists. As a team, the Nets shot 46 percent from the field but you never felt they were really in the game after getting blown out by 43-26 in the first quarter. With the loss, Brooklyn dropped to 7-13 on the season and 3-8 on the road.

Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks have been playing much better basketball as they’ve won three of their last five games but they will be looking to get over their 115-108 loss at San Antonio on Monday. Dennis Smith Jr. and Wesley Matthews led the team in scoring with 19 points each, JJ Barea added 16 points while Harrison Barnes added just 13 points on three of 14 shooting. As a team, the Mavericks shot 48 percent from the field and 14 of 32 from the three-point line as they played great basketball to lead by seven points at halftime, only to allow 69 points in the second half, costing them the game. With the loss, Dallas dropped to 5-16 on the season and 2-7 on the road.
Looking at the betting trends, the Nets are 6-1 ATS in their last seven road games, 4-0 ATS in their last four games following a loss and 6-0 ATS in their last six games overall. Meanwhile, the Mavericks are 4-10 ATS in their last 14 home games, 2-10 ATS in their last 12 games against a team with a losing record and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the underdog is 9-3 ATS in the last 12 meetings, the road team is 9-2 ATS in the last 11 meetings and the Nets are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings.
The Nets looked great in their win over the Mavericks but fell back to earth with a double-digit loss at Houston while the Mavericks looked to be playing some of their best basketball but fell just short against the Spurs on Monday. The betting trends are in favour of the road team in this one, but I’m sticking with the Mavericks who looked pretty good despite losing to the Spurs in their last outing.
