The Charlotte Hornets invade the American Airlines Arena to battle the Miami Heat on Friday night.
The Charlotte Hornets have been in poor form as they’ve lost nine of their last 12 games and they will be hoping to snap a three-game skid after falling to the Raptors in a 126-113 road loss on Wednesday. Dwight Howard led the team with 22 points and 10 rebounds, Frank Kaminsky and Jeremy Lamb added 18 points each while Nicolas Batum added 10 points with five assists. As a team, the Hornets shot 47 percent from the field and nine of 19 from the three-point line but they were always fighting a losing battle after trailing by 19 points going into halftime. Kemba Walker sat out on Wednesday with a left shoulder bruise and he is doubtful for Friday.

Meanwhile, the Miami Heat have won four of their last six games but they will be hoping to avoid a third straight loss after getting blown out by the Knicks in a 115-86 road loss on Wednesday. Kelly Olynyk led the scoring with 18 points off the bench while Josh Richardson and Tyler Johnson added 13 points each. As a team, the Heat shot 38 percent from the field and 10 of 38 from the three-point line but they were always fighting a losing battle after falling behind by 65-44 going into halftime. With the loss, Miami dropped to 10-11 on the season and 6-6 on the road.
Looking at the betting trends, the Hornets are 2-6 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a losing record, 2-10-1 ATS in their last 13 road games and 1-6-1 ATS in their last eight games following a loss. Meanwhile, the Heat are 1-3-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record, 2-12-2 ATS in their last 16 home games and 3-12-1 ATS in their last 16 against the Eastern Conference.
Head to head, the under is 7-2 in the last nine meetings overall, the over is 11-3 in the last 14 meetings in Miami and the favorite is 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings.
The struggling Hornets would love to have Walker back in the lineup, but he is currently listed as questionable for this game. The Heat have been playing some decent basketball but were absolutely blown out by the Knicks in their last outing, so I expect them bounce back with a narrow win and cover at home to steady the ship.
