The Washington Wizards pay a visit to the Utah Jazz at the Vivint Smart Home Arena on Monday night.
The Washington Wizards have been in a slump as they’ve lost five of their last eight games but they will be looking to build on Friday’s 109-91 blowout win over the Pistons. Markieff Morris led the team in scoring with 23 points, Otto Porter Jr. and Tomas Satoransky added 17 points each while Marcin Gortat chipped in with 12 points, 12 rebounds and three assists. As a team, the Wizards shot 48 percent from the field and seven of 21 from the three-point line as they took over the game in the third quarter where they outscored the Pistons by 35-15. What made the win more impressive was that they had to do it mostly without Bradley Beal who scored just 10 points while committing seven turnovers. With the win, Washington improved to 12-10 on the season and 6-5 at home.

Meanwhile, the Utah Jazz have been in great form as they will be aiming for a sixth straight win after taking down the Pelicans in a 114-108 win on Friday. Donovan Mitchell led from the front with a career-high 41 points on 13 of 25 shooting, Alec Burks added 24 points off the bench while Derrick Favors chipped in with 18 points, 11 rebounds and five assists. As a team, the Jazz shot 49 percent from the field and 12 of 30 from the three-point line as they dominated the second half by 71-53 to overcome a 12-point halftime deficit. With the win, Utah improved to 12-11 on the season and 10-4 at home.
Looking at the betting trends, the Wizards are 7-2 ATS in their last nine road games, 6-2 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a winning record and 4-9 ATS in their last 13 road games against a team with a winning home record. Meanwhile, the Jazz are 4-0 ATS in their last four home games, 4-0 ATS in their last four games following a win and 5-0 ATS in their last five games overall.
The Jazz have simply been on a roll lately and it would be a major letdown if they suddenly fell to the struggling, shorthanded Wizards at home. With that being said, I'm sticking with the Jazz to get the win and cover at home in what should be a low-scoring affair.
