The Washington Wizards and the Portland Trailblazers do battle at the Moda Center on Tuesday night.
The Washington Wizards have been in a slump since John Wall went down with a knee injury as they’ve lost six of their last nine games and things went from bad to worse last night when they were blown out by the Jazz in a 116-69 loss. Otto Porter Jr. led the team with just 14 points while Markieff Morris and Bradley Beal added just 11 points each. As a team, the Wizards shot a season-worst 28 percent from the field and four of 20 from the three-point line and they just couldn’t find their footing in the game after the Jazz went on a ferocious 33-6 run in the first half to take a 59-30 lead going into halftime. With the loss, Washington dropped to 12-11 on the season and 6-6 on the road.

Meanwhile, the Portland Trailblazers have split their last six games but they will be hoping to snap a two-game skid after falling to the Pelicans in a 123-116 home loss on Saturday. Damian Lillard led the team with 29 points and eight assists, CJ McCollum and Meyers Leonard added 17 points each while Shabazz Napier chipped in with 15 points off the bench. As a team, the Trailblazers shot 45 percent from the field and 11 of 35 from the three-point line but they poor defensively and were down by as many as 19 points against a motivated Pelicans team playing without their best player in Anthony Davis. With the loss, Portland dropped to 13-10 on the season and 7-6 at home.
Looking at the betting trends, the Wizards are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games playing on zero days’ rest, 7-2 ATS in their last nine road games and 6-2 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a winning record. Meanwhile, the Trailblazers are 5-12-2 ATS in their last 19 games overall, 0-2-2 ATS in their last four home games and 2-5-2 ATS in their last nine against the Eastern Conference.
Head to head, the over is 4-0 in the last four meetings and the home team is 15-7 ATS in the last 22 meetings.
There’s no doubt that the Wizards will come out firing after getting completely embarrassed last night against the Jazz, but they’ll have to figure out something new as they’ve looked like a poor team without Wall in the lineup. The Trailblazers haven’t exactly been setting the world on fire with their play and they’ve failed to cover in their last four home games, but I think they’ll be good enough to get the win and cover while the Wizards are shorthanded.
