The Dallas Mavericks are starting to really find their feet after a slow start to the season as they’ve now won five of their last eight games, including a 122-105 win over the Nuggets on Monday. Harrison Barnes led the way with 22 points and 10 rebounds, Dennis Smith Jr. added 20 points while Yogi Ferrell chipped in with 16 points off the bench. As a team, the Mavericks shot a sizzling 57 percent from the field and 12 of 26 from the three-point line as they cruised to an easy win after dominating the first quarter by 39-23. With the win, Dallas improved to 7-17 on the season and 5-10 at home where they’ve won three of their last four.

Kyrie Irving led from the front with 32 points on 13 of 24 shooting, Al Horford added 20 points with nine rebounds and eight assists, while Jayson Tatum chipped in with 17 points. As a team, the Celtics shot 55 percent from the field and 10 of 22 from the three-point line as they weathered a 40-point performance from the Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo. With the win, Boston improved to 21-4 on the season and 11-2 at home.
Looking at the betting trends, the Mavericks are 2-5 ATS in their last seven games against the Eastern Conference and 5-1 ATS in their last six games overall. Meanwhile, the Celtics are 9-2-1 ATS in their last 12 home games, 10-2-1 ATS in their last 13 games following a win of more than 10 points and 21-6-1 ATS in their last 28 games overall.
Head to head, the over is 5-1-1 in the last seven meetings, the road team is 19-7 ATS in the last 26 meetings and the Mavericks are 7-1 ATS in the last eight meetings in Boston.
These two teams last met on Nov. 20 and it was the Celtics who won by 110-102 in overtime behind 47 points from Irving. The Celtics have been in red-hot form so I definitely have them winning this one, but I think the Mavericks are being underestimated in this matchup so I’m taking them with the points in what I think will be another close contest.
