The New Orleans Pelicans play host to the Denver Nuggets at the Smoothie King Center on Wednesday night.
The Denver Nuggets have won four of their last seven games but they will be looking to bounce back after getting blown out by the Mavericks in a 122-105 loss on Monday. Will Barton led the team in scoring with 23 points and six assists off the bench, Jamal Murray added 22 points while Gary Harris chipped in with 21 points. As a team, the Nuggets shot 42 percent from the field and 14 of 36 from the three-point line but they were always fighting an uphill battle after falling behind by 39-23 after the first quarter. With the loss, Denver dropped to 13-10 overall and 3-8 on the road where they’ve lost three straight.

Meanwhile, the New Orleans Pelicans have lost four of their last five games and they will be kicking themselves after blowing a 21-point lead to the Warriors in a 125-115 loss on Monday. Jrue Holiday led the team with 34 points on 13 of 21 shooting, E’Twaun Moore added 27 points while DeMarcus Cousins filled the stat sheet with 19 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists, five steals and three blocks. As a team, the Pelicans shot 49 percent from the field and 16 of 39 from the three-point line, but their defense left them in the second half where they were outscored by 76-46. Anthony Davis sat out the game with a left adductor strain and he is currently listed as day-to-day. With the loss, New Orleans dropped to 12-12 overall and 5-6 at home.
Looking at the betting trends, the Nuggets are 21-9 ATS in their last 30 games following a loss, 1-6 ATS in their last seven road games and 5-11 ATS in their last 11 Wednesday games. Meanwhile, the Pelicans are 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record, 1-4 ATS in their last five against the Western Conference and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the road team is 8-3 ATS in the last 11 meetings, the Nuggets are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall and 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings in New Orleans.
The news is that Davis is doubtful to suit up tonight for the Pelicans as he continues to deal with his left adductor strain. The Nuggets will see this as a great chance to steal one from the Pelicans while they're shorthanded, but the Nuggets have been very poor when playing away from home, losing their last three straight while covering in just one of their last seven road games. Give me the Pelicans to get the win and cover behind a big night from Cousins and Holiday.
