The Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors collide at the Oracle Arena on Christmas Day.
The Cleveland Cavaliers have won six of their last seven games and they will be aiming to build on Thursday’s 115-112 win over the Bulls. LeBron James led the team with 34 points and nine assists, Kevin Love added 27 points while Kyle Korver added 15 points off the bench. As a team, the Cavaliers shot 51 percent from the field and 12 of 29 from the three-point line as they held on for the narrow win after blowing a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter. JR Smith was a late scratch with a sore left knee and he remains in doubt for Christmas Day.

Meanwhile, the Golden State Warriors will be looking to bounce back after having their 11-game win streak snapped by the Nuggets in a 96-81 blowout loss on Saturday. Kevin Durant shot just six of 17 from the field as he finished with a team-high 18 points, Klay Thompson added 15 points on six of 21 shooting while Draymond Green chipped in with 10 points and six assists. As a team, the Warriors shot just 38 percent from the field and a season-worst three of 27 from the three-point line but they came out flat and were always fighting an uphill battle after getting outscored by 31-21 in the second quarter. With the loss, Golden State dropped to 26-7 on the season and 12-4 at home. Shaun Livingston has been dealing with a sore right knee but is expected to return to action on Christmas against Cleveland.
Looking at the betting trends, the Cavaliers are 17-8-1 ATS in their last 26 road games, 7-2 ATS in their last nine games against a team with a winning record and 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall. Meanwhile, the Warriors are 1-6 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record, 0-4 ATS in their last four games following a double-digit loss at home and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall.
Head to head, the over is 4-0 in the last four meetings, the under is 7-2-2 in the last 11 meetings in Golden State and the home team is 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings.
The Warriors have been in red-hot form as they continue to win games without Stephen Curry, but their depth will be tested against this Cavaliers team who will look to make a statement on Christmas. I’m tempted to take the Cavaliers to pull off the minor upset, but they continue to fall into these defensive lapses and it’s going to hurt them sooner or later. I’m expecting a close contest but I like the Warriors to pull away late for the win and cover in this one.
