USA TODAY Sports
The Portland Trailblazers have lost four of their last six games but they will be hoping to bounce back after falling to the Hawks in a 104-89 road loss on Saturday. Shabazz Napier led the team with 21 points and six assists, CJ McCollum added 18 points while Al-Farouq Aminu chipped in with 10 points. As a team, the Trailblazers shot 42 percent from the field and just seven of 25 from the three-point line as they took a six-point lead going into halftime before getting dominated in the second half by 58-37. Defensively, the Trailblazers just had no answer for the Hawks’ Dennis Schroder who scored 18 of his 22 points in the second half. With the loss, Portland dropped to 18-17 overall and 10-7 on the road.
Meanwhile, the Chicago Bulls have won 10 of their last 13 games but they will be aiming to bounce back after falling to the Wizards by 114-110 last night, snapping a three-game win streak. Nikola Mirotic led the team with 21 points off the bench, Kris Dunn added 19 points with 11 assists while Robin Lopez chipped in with 16 points on seven of eight shooting. As a team, the bulls shot 46 percent from the field and eight of 35 from the three-point line but there was just no stopping the Wizards’ Bradley Beal who scored 17 of his 39 points in the fourth quarter to lift his team over the line. With the loss, Chicago fell to 13-23 overall and 4-15 on the road.
Looking at the betting trends, the Trailblazers are 8-1 ATS in their last nine road games, 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games overall. Meanwhile, the Bulls are 7-0 ATS in their last seven home games, 3-0-1 ATS in their last four games playing on zero days’ rest and 15-5-1 ATS in their last 21 games overall.
Head to head, the under is 5-2 in the last seven meetings, the road team is 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings and the Trailblazers are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings in Chicago.
Damian Lillard is a game-time decision but the expectation is that he will play given that he went through extensive conditioning drills during Sunday’s practice. The Trailblazers will welcome back with open arms given their recent struggles but I still think the Bulls are the smart play, especially at home where they’ve covered in each of their last seven meetings.
