The Utah Jazz have lost five of their last six games and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight loss after falling to the Nuggets in a 99-91 loss on Friday. Ricky Rubio and Donovan each scored 15 points, Derrick Favors added 14 points while Rodney Hood chipped in with 12 points. As a team, the Jazz shot 45 percent from the field and 12 of 33 from the three-point line but this game was decided in the third quarter where the Nuggets went on a ferocious 20-5 run to outscored them by 38-16 in the quarter. With the loss, Utah dropped to 16-23 on the season and 3-16 on the road.
Meanwhile, the Miami Heat have won four of their last five games and they will be gunning for a fourth straight win after sneaking past the Knicks by 107-103 in overtime on Friday. Wayne Ellington drained six treys to lead the team with 24 points, Goran Dragic added 19 points with six assists, Josh Richardson added 18 points while Tyler Johnson chipped in with 16 points. As a team, the Heat shot just 40 percent from the field and 12 of 42 from the three-point line but their defensive effort paid off in the overtime period where they held the Knicks to just six points. With the win, Miami improved to 21-17 overall and 10-9 at home where they have won three of their last four.
Looking at the betting trends, the Jazz are 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record, 0-5 ATS in their last five road games and 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall. Meanwhile, the Heat are 6-18-2 ATS in their last 26 home games, 4-9-2 ATS in their last 15 home games against a team with a losing road record and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games against the Western Conference.
Head to head, the over is 9-4 in the last 13 meetings in Miami and the road team is 6-1 ATS in the last seven meetings overall.
The Jazz continue to stink it up on a nightly basis as their offense inevitably goes ice-cold and it is costing them games. The Heat have been one of the most consistent teams lately and I like their chances to keep things rolling with another win at home against the Jazz who are only 3-16 on the road this season. I don't have the betting trends to support this, but I like the Heat to get the win and cover at hoeme against the slumping Jazz.
