The Orlando Magic and the Dallas Mavericks duke it out at the American Airlines Center on Tuesday night.
The Orlando Magic have lost 13 of their last 14 games and they will be hoping to snap a four-game skid after falling to the Cavaliers in a 131-127 loss on Saturday. LeBron James led the team with 33 points, 10 rebounds, nine assists and six steals, Kevin Love added 27 points while Isaiah Thomas chipped in with 19 points and four assists in just 21 minutes of action. As a team, the Cavaliers shot 50 percent from the field and 15 of 34 from the three-point line as they dominated the third quarter by 40-23 to take a 20-point lead going into the fourth quarter before escaping with the narrow win as the Magic rallied late to make a game of it. With the win, Cleveland improved to 26-13 overall and 11-9 on the road where they had lost five straight before Saturday.
Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks will be hoping to snap a three-game skid after getting edged out by the Knicks in a 100-96 loss on Sunday. Harrison Barnes led the team with 25 points, Wesley Matthews added 14 points while JJ Barea and Devon Harris each scored 11 points off the bench. As a team, the Mavs shot just 38 percent from the field and six of 24 from the three-point line but they were slow out of the gates and could never gain the lead after falling behind by double-digits. The Mavs still had a chance to win the game with the scores tied with 1:18 left in the game, but it was the Knicks who would score the next six points to come out on top. With the loss, Dallas dropped to 13-28 overall and 8-14 at home where they’ve now lost three straight.
Looking at the betting trends, the Magic are 0-4 ATS in their last four road games, 0-7 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record and 6-19-1 ATS in their last 26 games overall. Meanwhile, the Mavericks are 8-20 ATS in their last 28 games against a team with a losing record and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games overall.
Head to head, the home team is 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings, the Magic are 3-8 ATS in the last 11 meetings overall and 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings in Dallas.
The Magic continue to stink up the court on a nightly basis, but they weren’t too bad in their last outing as they almost took down the Cavaliers on Saturday. With that being said, the Mavs haven’t exactly been in winning form but their last three losses have come by six points or less so you just get the feeling that they’re long overdue for a win. The Magic have failed to cover in each of their last four road games while the Mavs have covered in five of their last seven games overall and I think those trends continue in this one.
