The Detroit Pistons have lost four of their last six games and they will be hoping to bounce back after falling to the Pelicans in a 112-109 road loss on Monday. Tobias Harris led the team with 25 points, Avery Bradley added 24 points while Andre Drummond and Ish Smith each scored 16 points. As a team, the Pistons shot 44 percent from the field and eight of 27 from the three-point line but in a close contest, it was the Pelicans who blinked first as they went on a decisive 13-2 run early in the fourth quarter. The Pistons would rally late to tie the game at 105-105 with 2:01 left in the game, but the Pelicans came out on top despite losing Anthony Davis in the third quarter with an injury. With the loss, Detroit fell to 21-18 on the season and 8-13 on the road.
Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Nets have split their last six games but they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after falling to the Raptors in a 114-113 overtime loss on Monday. Spencer Dinwiddie led the team with 31 points and eight assists, Allen Crabbe added 20 points while Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and Jarrett Allen each scored 14 points. As a team, the Nets shot 39 percent from the field and 12 of 33 from the three-point line as they rallied back from a five-point deficit with just 54 seconds left in the fourth quarter, only to lose in overtime where they managed just six points. With the loss, Brooklyn dropped to 15-25 overall and 9-12 at home.
Looking at the betting trends, the Pistons are 1-4 ATS in their last five road games, 1-5 ATS in their last six games against a team with a losing record and 1-5 ATS in their last six against the Eastern Conference. Meanwhile, the Nets are 5-0 ATS in their last five home games, 19-7 ATS in their last 26 games against a team with a winning record and 6-0 ATS in their last six games overall.
Head to head, the home team is 6-1 ATS in the last seven meetings, the Pistons are 2-9 ATS in the last 11 meetings overall and 0-6 ATS in the last six meetings in Brooklyn.
Both the Pistons and the Nets are coming into this game in similar form but the Pistons have covered in just one of their last five road games while the Nets have covered in each of their last five home games. The Pistons really should win this one as they're clearly the better team at this stage of the season, but I just can't ignore the betting trends in favor of the Nets, so that's where I'm leaning in this one.
