The Memphis Grizzlies play host to the New Orleans Pelicans at the FedExForum on Wednesday night.
The New Orleans Pelicans have won five of their last eight games and they will be looking to build on Monday’s 112-109 home win over the Pistons. Anthony Davis led the team with 30 points on 12 of 14 shooting before he left in the third quarter with an injury, E’Twaun Moore added 23 points while DeMarcus Cousins added 20 points with 10 rebounds. Rajon Rondo finished with a double-double of 12 points and 15 assists as the Pelicans shot 56 percent from the field and in a tight contest, it was Cousins who carried the offense after Davis left the game with an ankle sprain which could have him sit out on Wednesday. With the win, New Orleans improved to 20-19 overall and 10-9 at home.
Meanwhile, the Memphis Grizzlies have lost three of their last four games and they will be looking to bounce back after falling to the Wizards in a 102-100 home loss on Friday. Tyreke Evans continued his breakout season with 26 points and seven assists, Marc Gasol added 17 points with 11 rebounds, five assists and five blocks while Mario Chalmers chipped in with 13 points and three assists off the bench. As a team, the Grizzlies shot just 40 percent from the field but they were able to cut a 15-point fourth quarter deficit to just one points with 18 seconds left on the clock, but it wasn’t enough as Evans missed the potential game-tying three. With the loss, Memphis dropped to 12-27 overall and 7-13 at home.
Looking at the betting trends, the Pelicans are 11-4 ATS in their last 15 games against a team with a losing record, 13-3 ATS in their last 16 road games against a team with a losing home record and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall. Meanwhile, the Grizzlies are 3-12-1 ATS in their last 16 home games, 1-5 ATS in their last six games playing on three or more days’ rest and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the under is 4-1 in the last five meetings, the Pelicans are 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings overall and 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings in Memphis.
The Pelicans will likely be without Davis which is obviously a big loss given that he does so much on both ends of the floor. However, even with Davis likely out, I still like the Pelicans who have covered in 13 of their last 16 road games to get the win and cover over the Grizzlies who have covered in just three of their last 16 home games.
