The San Antonio Spurs pay a visit to the Los Angeles Lakers at the STAPLES Center on Thursday night.
The San Antonio Spurs have split their last six games but they will be looking to build on Monday’s 107-100 road win over the Kings. LaMarcus Aldridge led the team with 31 points on 13 of 20 shooting, Davis Bertans drained six treys to finish with 28 points off the bench while Patty Mills chipped in with 14 points and five assists. As a team, the Spurs shot 49 percent from the field and 11 of 26 from the three-point line as they dominated the second half by 61-44 to run away with the game after a slow first half. With the win, San Antonio improved to 28-14 overall and 10-12 on the road. Danny Green is dealing with a groin injury while Tony Parker is dealing a sprained right ankle leaving both of them in doubt for Thursday, while Rudy Gay and Kawhi Leonard have already been ruled out.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Lakers look to have recovered from their nine-game absence as they’ll be gunning for a third straight win after taking down the Kings by 99-86 on Tuesday. Julius Randle led the team with 22 points, 14 rebounds and six assists, Brook Lopez added 18 points while Lonzo Ball finished with five points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists and five steals. As a team, the Lakers shot 48 percent from the field but it was their defense that came up big as they were able to hold the Kings to just 34 percent shooting and just 34 points in the second half to run away with the game. With the win, Los Angeles improved to 13-27 overall and 8-14 at home.
Looking at the betting trends, the Spurs are 6-1 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record, 3-0-1 ATS in their last four against the Western Conference and 6-2-1 ATS in the last nine games overall. Meanwhile, the Lakers are 2-6 ATS in their last eight home games, 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games overall.
Head to head, the over is 7-1 in the last eight meetings and the over is 4-0 in the last four meetings in Los Angeles.
The Lakers have shown signs of life in their last two wins, but those came against the Hawks and the Kings which is hardly anything to write home about these days. The Spurs have fallen off the pace recently as their injury toll continues to grow but they're still more than good enough to get the win with the players they have left. I would usually be all over the Spurs in this matchup, but I actually think this a good spot for the Lakers to get the cover at home while the Spurs are so shorthanded.
