The Orlando Magic and the Washington Wizards duke it out at the Capital One Arena on Friday night.
The Orlando Magic could really do with a win as they’ve lost 15 of their last 16 games and they will be hoping to snap a six-game skid after falling to the Bucks in a 110-103 road loss on Wednesday. Evan Fournier led the team with 21 points on eight of 14 shooting, Bismack Biyombo and Marreese Speights each had 14 points while Mario Hezonja chipped in with 13 points off the bench. As a team, the Magic shot 43 percent from the field and eight of 29 from the three-point line but they really couldn’t keep up with the Bucks who led by as many as 20 points before resting their starters in the fourth quarter. Aaron Gordon was particularly poor for the Magic as he shot just four of 18 for his 11 points while Jonathan Simmons finished with just seven points. With the loss, Orlando fall to 12-30 overall and 5-18 on the road.
USA TODAY Sports
Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards have won six of their past nine games but they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after falling to the Jazz in a 107-104 home loss on Wednesday. John Wall led the team with 35 points and 11 assists, Bradley Beal had 23 points with seven assists while Otto Porter Jr chipped in with 14 points. As a team, the Wizards shot a healthy 52 percent from the field and 10 of 25 from the three-point line but turnovers really cost them this game as they finished with 23 as a team, led by eight turnovers from Wall. Even with the turnovers, the Wizards still led by one points with 1:10 left in the game but just couldn’t get over the line. With the loss, Washington dropped to 23-18 overall and 13-8 at home.
Looking at the betting trends, the Magic are 1-5 ATS in their last six road games, 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games against a team with a winning record and 7-20-1 ATS in their last 28 games overall. Meanwhile, the Wizards are 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the road team is 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings, the Magic are 2-6 ATS in the last eight meetings and 3-9-1 ATS in the last 13 meetings in Washington.
The Wizards are in a bit of a slump as they've been disappointing in their last two losses, but that doesn't compare to the Magic who just can't buy a win these days. These two teams last met on Dec 23 and it was the Wizards who won by 130-103 in an absolute blowout so I have to stick with the Wizards to bounce back into winning form with an easy one here.
