The Boston Celtics pay a visit to the Denver Nuggets at the Pepsi Center on Monday night.
The Boston Celtics have been in a slump as they’ve lost five of their last six games and they will be hoping to get back to winning ways after falling to the league-leading Warriors in a 109-105 road loss on Saturday. Kyrie Irving dazzled with 37 points on 13 of 18 shooting, Jaylen Brown added 20 points on six of nine shooting while Al Horford chipped in with 15 points and 13 rebounds. As a team, the Celtics shot 43 percent from the field and 14 of 28 from the three-point line as they stormed out to an early 10-point lead in the first quarter only to be outscored by 53-36 in the second and third quarters combined. The Celtics went onto show plenty of fight in the fourth quarter but ultimately fell just short as the Warriors’ Stephen Curry poured on 13 points in the final 1:42 to hold off the Celtics. With the loss, Boston dropped to 35-15 overall and 17-7 on the road.
Meanwhile, the Denver Nuggets have been in decent form as they’ve won five of their last eight games and they will be looking to build on a three-game win streak after sneaking past the Mavericks in a 91-89 home win on Saturday. Gary Harris led the team with 24 points on eight of 16 shooting, Jamal Murray added 15 points and five assists off the bench while Nikola Jokic racked up a triple-double of 11 points, with 16 rebounds and 11 assists. As a team, the Nuggets shot 42 percent from the field and 12 of 33 from the three-point line as they held the Mavericks to just six points in the final 5:25 to close out the win after blowing an early 13-point lead. With the win, Denver improved to 26-23 overall and 19-6 at home where they have won three straight and five of their last six.
Looking at the betting trends, the Celtics are 4-0 ATS in their last four games against a team with a winning record, 19-8 ATS in their last 27 road games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven against the Western Conference. Meanwhile, the Nuggets are 1-3-1 ATS in their last five home games, 3-1-2 ATS in their last six games against a team with a winning record and 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven games overall.
Head to head, the road team is 3-1-1 ATS in the last five meetings, the Celtics are 1-3-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall and 4-9 ATS in the last 13 meetings in Denver.
The Celtics have really cooled off lately as they’ve lost five of six following their five-game win streak, but they looked pretty good in their narrow road loss to the Warriors as most teams would’ve gotten blown out by double-digits. The Nuggets have been a little inconsistent lately but they are deserved favorites at home where they have covered in nine of 13 meetings against the Celtics. The Celtics won the first meeting this season by 124-118 back on Dec 13 but I think the Nuggets get their revenge with a win and cover in this one.
