The New York Knicks pay a visit to the TD Garden to take on the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night.
The New York Knicks have split their last six games but they will be gunning for a third straight victory after last night’s 111-95 win over the lowly Nets. Kristaps Porzingis led the team with 28 points on nine of 19 shooting, Enes Kanter finished with a monster double-double of 20 points with 20 rebounds and five assists while Tim Hardaway Jr chipped in with 15 points. As a team, the Knicks shot 44 percent from the field and 13 of 26 from the three-point line as they cruised in the second half after dominating the first half by 61-41. With the easy win, New York improved to 23-28 overall and 16-9 at home.
Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics have actually been in a bit of a slump as they’ve lost five of their last seven games but they will be looking to build on Monday’s 111-110 win at Denver. Kyrie Irving led the team with 27 points and six assists, Jayson Tatum added 20 points and four assists while Marcus Morris chipped in with 14 points off the bench. As a team, the Celtics shot 47 percent from the field and a sizzling 17 of 36 from the three-point line but the Celtics would really have to work despite leading by as many as 20 points in the second quarter. With the win, Boston improved to 36-15 overall and 18-7 on the road where they have won four of their last six.
Looking at the betting trends, the Knicks are 4-1 ATS in their last five games against the NBA Atlantic and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record. Meanwhile, the Celtics are 2-5 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record and 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games against the Eastern Conference.
Head to head, the under is 4-1 in the last five meetings in Boston and 6-2 in the last eight meetings overall.
These two teams have already met twice this season with each team winning at home, but the latest meeting went to the Knicks who won by 102-93 on Dec 21 behind a game-high 32 points from Michael Beasley. I’m tempted to take the Celtics to cover, especially because the Knicks will be playing their second game in as many nights, but this seems like too many points to be giving the Knicks who can certainly win this one outright.
