The Memphis Grizzlies and the Atlanta Hawks collide at the Philips Arena on Tuesday night.
The Memphis Grizzlies have been in a slump as they’ve lost five of their last six games and they will be hoping to avoid a fourth straight loss after falling to the Raptors in a 101-86 road loss on Sunday. Marc Gasol led the team with 20 points and five assists, Andrew Harrison added 166 points while JaMychal Green chipped in with 11 points. As a team, the Grizzlies shot just 35 percent from the field and eight of 25 from the three-point line but they were right in the game until the fourth quarter where the Raptors outscored them by 25-12 to run away with the game. With the loss, Memphis dropped to 18-34 overall and 5-19 on the road where they have now lost six in a row.
Meanwhile, the Atlanta Hawks have lost five of their last seven games but they will be looking to build on Sunday’s 99-96 road win over the Knicks. Kent Bazemore led the team with 19 points, Mike Muscala added 15 points off the bench while DeWayne Dedmon chipped in with a double-double of 12 points with 14 rebounds. As a team, the Hawks shot just 40 percent from the field but a healthy 15 of 33 from the three-point line as they rallied late, closing the game on a 12-3 run in the final 2:01 to come out on top. With the win, Atlanta improved to 16-37 overall and 5-21 on the road.
Looking at the betting trends, the Grizzlies are 6-1 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record, 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games following a loss of more than 10 points and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games overall. Meanwhile, the Hawks are 6-0 ATS in their last six against the Western Conference, 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven games following a win and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall.
Head to head, the road team is 5-0 ATS in the last five meetings, the under is 4-0 in the last four meetings and the Grizzlies are 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings in Atlanta.
These two teams have already met once this season and it was the Grizzlies who won by 96-94 back on Dec 15 thanks to 22 points from Tyreke Evans who isn’t available this time. The Grizzlies could really do with a win as they just haven’t been able to buy one lately, but I think the Hawks will take plenty of confidence from their dramatic comeback win over the Knicks so that’s where I’m leaning in this one.
