The Indiana Pacers and the New Orleans Pelicans do battle at the Smoothie King Center on Wednesday night.
The Indiana Pacers have won six of their past nine games but they will be looking to bounce back after falling to the shorthanded Wizards by 111-102 on Monday. Bojan Bogdanovic led the team with five treys on his way to 29 points, Lance Stephenson added 13 points with nine rebounds and six assists while Joe Young chipped in with 17 points off the bench. As a team, the Pacers shot 46 percent from the field and 12 of 29 from the three-point line but they just couldn’t match it with the shorthanded Wizards who had eight players finish in double figures led by 21 points from Bradley Beal. With the loss, Indiana dropped to 30-25 overall and 19-11 at home where they have won six of their last seven.

Meanwhile, the New Orleans Pelicans have lost four of their last five games and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after getting blown out by the Jazz in a 133-109 home loss on Monday. Jrue Holiday led the team with 28 points on 13 of 21 shooting, Rajon Rondo added 18 points with eight assists while Anthony Davis chipped in with 15 points and 11 rebounds. As a team, the Pelicans shot 50 percent from the field and eight of 22 from the three-point line, but they just weren’t prepared for the Jazz who shot a ridiculous 58 percent from the field led by 30 points from Rodney Hood. With the loss, New Orleans dropped to 28-25 overall and 14-12 at home where they have now lost three in a row.
Looking at the betting trends, the Pacers are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a winning record, 1-4 ATS in their last five road games and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall. Meanwhile, the Pelicans are 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record, 1-5 ATS in their last six home games and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the road team is 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings, the Pacers are 0-4 ATS in the last four meetings overall and 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings in New Orleans.
The Pelicans have really struggled to put it all together in their last five games as they’re still trying to figure out how to play without DeMarcus Cousins. The Pacers have been in solid form but they’ve lost two of their last three games and will be disappointed about losing to a Wizards team playing without John Wall. The Pacers have covered in five of the last six meetings in New Orleans and I think that trend continues tonight as the Pacers pull off the minor upset here.
