The New Orleans Pelicans pay a visit to the Brooklyn Nets at the Barclays Center on Saturday night.
The New Orleans Pelicans have been struggling lately as they've lost five of their last six games and they will be hoping to snap a three-game skid after last night's 100-82 loss at Philadelphia. Ian Clark led the team with 15 points off the bench, Anthony Davis had just 14 points on six of 19 shooting while Nikola Mirotic chipped in with 12 points on five of 15 shooting. As a team, the Pelicans shot 35 percent from the field and eight of 31 from the three-point line but they were slow out of the gates and always fighting an uphill battle after falling behind by 32-14 after the first quarter. In fact, the Pelicans trailed by as many as 35 points early in the fourth quarter before the reserves made the most of garbage time to keep the final score respectable. With the loss, New Orleans dropped to 28-25 overall and 14-13 on the road.

Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Nets have lost eight of their last nine games and they will be hoping to snap a four-game skid after falling to the Pistons in a 115-106 road loss on Wednesday. Allen Crabbe led the team with 34 points on 13 of 22 shooting, Joe Harris added 18 points with six assists while Spencer Dinwiddie finished with a double-double of 12 points with 11 assists. As a team, the Nets shot just 43 percent from the field and 17 of 51 from the three-point line but they kept shooting themselves in the foot with turnovers as they finished with 20 while the Pistons committed just seven. With the loss, Brooklyn dropped to 19-37 overall and 8-19 on the road.
Looking at the betting trends, the Pelicans are 12-4 ATS in their last 16 road games against a team with a losing home record, 1-6 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall. Meanwhile, the Nets are 7-0 ATS in their last seven home games against a team with a winning road record, 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games against a team with a winning record and 1-4 ATS in their last five games playing on two days’ rest.
Head to head, the over is 20-6 in the last 26 meetings, the road team is 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings and the Pelicans are 6-2 ATS in the last eight meetings.
The Pelicans have been struggling for wins so I thought they would come out firing given they had so many days off, but they actually came out sluggishly and found themselves down by double digits in the blink of an eye. The Nets haven't exactly been world beaters themselves as they've won just one of their last nine games, but they have covered in each of their last seven home games against a team with a winning road record. This one could go either way but I'm leaning towards the Pelicans to get the narrow win and cover as they've covered in six of the last eight against the Nets.
