The Denver Nuggets play host to the Los Angeles Clippers at the Pepsi Center on Tuesday night.
The Los Angeles Clippers have been in pretty good form lately as they’ve won eight of their past 11 games and they will be looking to stay hot after taking down the Suns in a 128-117 road win on Friday. Lou Williams led the team with 35 points and four assists of 12 of 20 shooting off the bench, Tobias Harris added 30 points with 12 rebounds and four assists while Austin Rivers chipped in with 17 points and six assists. As a team, the Clippers shot 51 percent from the field and 14 of 32 from the three-point line as they absolutely dominated the first quarter by 40-18 to take a 29-point lead going into halftime before the Suns made the most of garbage time to keep the final score respectable. With the easy win, Los Angeles improved to 31-27 overall and 15-15 on the road where they have won five of their last six.
Meanwhile, the Denver Nuggets have been in great form as well as they’ve won seven of their past nine games but they will be looking to bounce back after falling to the Rockets in a 119-114 home loss on Sunday. Will Barton led the team in scoring with 25 points, seven rebounds and six assists, Nikola Jokic flirted with another triple-double as he scored 21 points with 14 rebounds and eight assists while Jamal Murray chipped in with 19 points and five assists. As a team, the Nuggets shot 48 percent from the field and 10 of 29 from the three-point line as they fell just short after trailing by as many as 17 points in the fourth quarter. With the loss, Denver dropped to 33-27 overall and 24-8 at home.
Looking at the betting trends, the Clippers are 8-1 ATS in their last nine games following a win of more than 10 points, 16-5-1 ATS in their last 22 road games and 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall. Meanwhile, the Nuggets are 3-0-1 ATS in their last four games following a loss, 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight games following a ATS loss and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games overall.
Head to head, the home team is 6-0 ATS in the last six meetings, the under is 5-1 in the last six meetings in Denver and the Clippers are 2-7 ATS in the last nine meetings in Denver.
The Clippers have quietly been one of the hottest teams in the league lately and they’ve covered in 16 of their last 22 road games, but you could say the same for the Nuggets who were riding a five-game home win streak before losing to the Rockets on Sunday. These two teams have only met once so far this season and it was the Clippers who won by 109-104 back on Jan 17 but the Nuggets have covered in seven of the last nine home games against the Clippers and I think that trend continues in what should be a shootout.
