The Portland Trailblazers and the Los Angeles Lakers collide at the STAPLES Center on Monday night.
The Portland Trailblazers have been on a tear lately as they’ve won eight of their last nine games and they will be aiming for a seventh straight win after taking down the Thunder in a 108-100 home win on Saturday. CJ McCollum led the team with 28 points, eight rebounds and six assists, Damian Lillard added 20 points with seven assists while Evan Turner chipped in with 17 points. As a team, the Trailblazers shot 44 percent from the field and 11 of 33 from the three-point line as they held on for the win after leaing by 10 points early in the fourth quarter before the Thunder drew to within four points. With the win, Portland improved to 37-26 overall and 20-11 at home where they have won four in a row.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Lakers have won nine of their past 12 games and they will be gunning for a sixth straight win after sneaking past the Spurs in a 116-112 road win on Saturday. Julius Randle led the team with 25 points, Isaiah Thomas added 21 points and seven assists off the bench, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope added 18 points while Lonzo Ball flirted with a triple-double as he racked up 18 points with seven rebounds and 11 assists. As a team, the Lakers shot 43 percent from the field and 15 of 34 from the three-point line as they trailed the Spurs for most of the game until the fourth quarter where they outscored the Spurs by 36-21 to run away with the game. With the win, Los Angeles improved to 28-34 overall and 13-20 on the road where they have reeled off four straight wins.
Looking at the betting trends, the Trailblazers are 6-2 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a losing record, 10-2-1 ATS in their last 13 against the Western Conference and 5-1 ATS in their last six games overall. Meanwhile, the Lakers are 9-0 ATS in their last nine home games, 5-1 ATS in their last six games against a team with a winning record and 18-6 ATS in their last 24 games overall.
Head to head, the road team is 5-0 ATS in the last five meetings, the Trailblazers are 22-8 ATS in the last 30 meetings in Los Angeles and the 43-17 ATS in the last 60 meetings overall.
The Blazers are heading into this game riding a season-high six-game winning streak and the Lakers will be feeling confident themselves as they’ve reeled off five straight so something has to give. These two teams have met twice this season with the Blazers winning on both occasions by three points each, but the Lakers are playing their best basketball of the season and they have covered in eight of their last nine home games, so that’s where I’m leaning in this one.
