The Los Angeles Lakers play host to the Orlando Magic at the STAPLES Center on Wednesday night.
The Orlando Magic have been struggling lately as they’ve lost eight of their last 10 games but they were aiming for a third straight win before falling to the Jazz in a 94-80 road loss on Monday. Nikola Vucevic led the team with 15 points, 12 rebounds and three assists, Aaron Gordon added 13 points while Evan Fournier chipped in with 12 points. As a team, the Magic shot just 34 percent from the field and 11 of 34 from the three-point line but they were having trouble scoring against the Jazz’s Rudy Gobert who dominated the paint with 21 points and 17 rebounds while shooting nine of 10 from the field. With the loss, Orlando fell to 20-44 overall and 7-26 on the road.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Lakers have been in great form as they’ve won nine of their last 13 games but they will be looking to bounce back after having their five-game win streak snapped by the Trailblazers in a 108-103 loss on Monday. Julius Randle led the team with 21 points, Isaiah Thomas added 19 points and seven assists off the bench while Kentavious Caldwell-Pope chipped in with 16 points. As a team, the Lakers shot 39 percent from the field and 11 of 37 from the three-point line as they competed hard to lead by as many as 11 points midway through the fourth quarter before the Trailblazers rallied behind Damian Lillard who finished with 39 points. With the loss, Los Angeles fell to 28-35 overall and 15-15 at home. Brandon Ingram sat out the game with a groin strain and will be reevaluated in another week.
Looking at the betting trends, the Magic are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 road games, 6-1 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record and 16-7 ATS in their last 23 games overall. Meanwhile, the Lakers are 9-1 ATS in their last 10 home games, 5-1 ATS in their last six games against a team with a losing record and 6-1 ATS in their last seven games overall.
Head to head, the home team is 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings, the under is 15-3 in the last 18 meetings in Los Angeles and the Magic are 0-4 ATS in the last four meetings in Los Angeles.
The Magic were able to win a couple of games recently but overall, they’ve been really poor and they don’t have much to play for at this stage of the season. Meanwhile, the Lakers have been playing some of their best basketball lately and while they’ll be without Ingram again in this one, they should be more than good enough to get the win and cover.
