The Indiana Pacers pay a visit to the red-hot Boston Celtics at the TD Garden on Sunday night.
The Indiana Pacers have been in fine form as they’ve won eight of their last 11 games and they will be looking to stay hot after blowing away the Hawks in a 112-87 home win on Friday. Bogdan Bogdanovic led the team with 21 points, Cory Joseph added 18 points with four assists while Myles Turner and Victor Oladipo each scored 17 points. As a team, the Pacers shot 49 percent from the field and 14 of 28 from the three-point line as they stormed out of the gates to lead by 34-15 after the first quarter before cruising in the second half. With the win, Indiana improved to 38-28 overall and 23-12 at home.
Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics have been playing some pretty good basketball themselves as they’ve won six of their last seven games and they will be aiming for a third straight win after taking down the Timberwolves in a 117-109 road win on Thursday. Kyrie Irving led from the front with 23 points, seven rebounds and eight assists, Al Horford added 20 points while Marcus Morris chipped in with 17 points off the bench. As a team, the Celtics shot 49 percent from the field to lead by 14 points going into halftime. However, it wasn’t such smooth sailing in the second half as the Celtics had to deal with losing Jaylen Brown to injury after he landed awkwardly on a dunk attempt. With the win, Boston improved to 46-20 overall and 23-9 on the road.
Looking at the betting trends, the Pacers are 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record, 1-4 ATS in their last five games following a win of more than 10 points and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall. Meanwhile, the Celtics are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games against a team with a winning record, 1-4 ATS in their last five home games and 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall.
Head to head, the under is 4-1 in the last five meetings in Boston, the over is 4-1 in the last five meetings overall and the favorite is 6-2 ATS in the last eight meetings.
Brown has been ruled out for this game with a concussion after suffering a nasty fall on Thursday but that’s nothing new to the Celtics who have been shorthanded all season. The Pacers have been playing solid basketball and they looked great in their win over the Hawks, but the Celtics still own the edge in this matchup as they’ve already beaten the Pacers twice this season. This could go either way, but the Celtics have won their last two home games by double-digits and I think they’ll stay hot with another win and cover here.
