The Cleveland Cavaliers and the Los Angeles Lakers do battle at the STAPLES Center on Sunday night.
The Cleveland Cavaliers have been a little hit and miss lately as they’ve split their last four games and they will be looking to bounce back after falling to the Clippers in a 116-102 road loss on Friday. LeBron James led the team with 25 points, 10 rebounds and six assists, Jordan Clarkson added 21 points off the bench while Larry Nance Jr chipped in with 16 points and 12 rebounds in place of the injured Tristan Thompson. As a team, the Cavaliers shot 45 percent from the field and 12 of 36 from the three-point line but they were never really in this game after falling behind by 35-17 points in the first quarter. With the poor loss, Cleveland dropped to 38-27 overall and 16-16 on the road.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Lakers have been in great form as they’ve won six of their past eight games but they will be hoping to bounce back after Friday’s 125-116 loss at Denver. Brook Lopez led the team with 29 points on 12 of 18 shooting, Julius Randle added 18 points, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope added 17 points while Lonzo Ball chipped in with 15 points, eight rebounds and eight assists. As a team, the Lakers shot 49 percent from the field and 14 of 35 from the three-point line as they fought hard to lead by three points midway through the fourth quarter until the Nuggets flipped the script with a decisive 9-0 run that would give the Nuggets the win. With the loss, Los Angeles dropped to 29-36 overall and 13-21 on the road.
Looking at the betting trends, the Cavaliers are 5-1 ATS in their last six road games, 12-38-2 ATS in their last 52 games following a loss of more than 10 points and 20-42-1 ATS in their last 63 games overall. Meanwhile, the Lakers are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 home games and 4-1 ATS in their last five Sunday games.
Head to head, the road team is 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings, the over is 9-0 in the last nine meetings and the Cavaliers are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings.
The Cavaliers and the Lakers have already met once this season and it was the Cavaliers who won by 121-112 back on Dec 14 but both teams have gone through major roster changes since then which adds to the intrigue of this matchup. The Cavaliers have really been inconsistent lately but they’re certainly capable of beating the Lakers who have been playing some inspired basketball lately. The Lakers have been on fire at home where they’ve won 10 of their last 11 games and I think that trend continues in this one as the Lakers pull off the upset at home.
