The red-hot Portland Trailblazers play host to the Miami Heat at the Moda Center on Monday night.
The Miami Heat have been in pretty good form lately as they’ve won six of their past eight games and they will be gunning for a third straight win after blowing past the Wizards in a 129-102 home win on Saturday. James Johnson broke out of his shooting slump with a team-high 20 points on eight of nine shooting, Wayne Ellington added 17 points while Josh Richardson, Tyler Johnson and Kelly Olynyk each scored 13 points. As a team, the Heat shot a sizzling 59 percent from the field and 10 of 28 from the three-point line as they exploded for 43 points in the third quarter to lead by 27 points before resting their starters in the fourth quarter. With the win, Miami improved to 36-31 overall and 20-13 at home.
Meanwhile, the Portland Trailblazers have been on fire lately as they’ve won 11 of their last 12 games and they will be gunning for a 10th straight win after blowing past the Warriors in a 125-108 home win on Friday. CJ McCollum led the team with 30 points on 10 of 19 shooting, Damian Lillard added 28 points with eight assists while Ed Davis chipped in with 10 points, 15 rebounds and four assists off the bench. As a team, the Trailblazers shot 49 percent from the field and 16 of 39 from the three-point line as they battled with the Warriors for three tight quarters before closing out the game on a 15-5 run to keep their winning streak alive. With the win, Portland improved to 40-26 overall and 22-11 at home.
Looking at the betting trends, the Heat are 36-15-1 ATS in their last 52 road games, 33-15-3 ATS in their last 51 games against a team with a winning record and 18-7-3 ATS in their last 28 games overall. Meanwhile, the Trailblazers are 5-0 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record, 11-5-3 ATS in their last 19 games following a win of more than 10 points
Head to head, the home team is 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings, the Heat are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings in Portland and 0-4 ATS in the last four meetings overall.
These two teams have met just one this season with the Trailblazers winning by 102-95 back on Dec 13. The Heat have been a little shaky at times in recent games but they looked great in their big win over the Wizards, but the Trailblazers have been on a tear for a while now and I just don’t see them losing this one at home while they’re playing this well. Give me the Trailblazers to keep things rolling with another win and cover in this one.
