The Los Angeles Lakers pay a visit to Indiana Pacers at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Monday night.
The Los Angeles Lakers have been in great form as they’ve won eight of their last 12 games but they will be hoping to avoid a third straight loss after falling to the Heat in a 92-91 home loss on Friday. Julius Randle continued his strong form with 25 points and 12 rebounds, Brook Lopez added 18 points while Kyle Kuzma returned from a one-game absence to chip in with 11 points. As a team, the Lakers shot 42 percent from the field while holding the Heat to just 38 percent shooting, but in a game that was tightly contested throughout, it was the Heat’s Goran Dragic who drained the game-winning floater with just 15.2 seconds left in the game. With the loss, Los Angeles fell to 31-38 overall and 18-16 at home.
Meanwhile, the Indiana Pacers have won 10 of their last 15 games but they too will be looking to avoid a third straight loss after Saturday’s 109-102 road loss at Washington. Lance Stephenson led the team with 25 points and five assists off the bench, Victor Oladipo added 18 points with four assists while Al Jefferson chipped in with 10 points. As a team, the Pacers shot 45 percent from the field and 12 of 24 from the three-point line but the final score is actually a little flattering because the Pacers actually trailed the Wizards by as many as 21 points late in the third quarter. With the loss, Indiana dropped to 40-30 overall which is currently good for fifth place in the Eastern Conference.
Looking at the betting trends, the Lakers are 5-2 ATS in their last seven road games, 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games against the Eastern Conference and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall. Meanwhile, the Pacers are 5-1 ATS in their last six home games against a team with a losing road record, 13-3 ATS in their last 16 Monday games and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games against the Western Conference.
Head to head, the home team is 5-2-1 ATS in the last eight meetings and the over is 8-1 in the last nine meetings in Indiana. The Lakers are 5-0-1 ATS in the last six meetings overall and 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings in Indiana.
The Lakers have been playing solid basketball and they will be eager to get back on the court after falling painfully short against the Heat in their last outing. The Pacers have been playing well themselves but they were really poor against the Wizards in their last outing so they need to bounce back to stay in touch with fifth place in the Eastern standings. I like the Pacers to bounce back with a win at home, but I like the Lakers with the points as they've covered in five of last seven meetings in Indiana.
