The Memphis Grizzlies pay a visit to the Philadelphia 76ers at the Wells Fargo Center on Wednesday night.
The end of the season just can’t arrive soon enough for the struggling Grizzlies who have lost 20 of their last 21 games following their 118-115 loss at Brooklyn on Monday. Andrew Harrison led the team with 19 points and eight assists, Wayne Selden added 17 points off the bench, Dillon Brooks added 15 points while JaMychal Green chipped in with 14 points, 16 rebounds and three assists. As a team, the Grizzlies shot 52 percent from the field and 10 of 23 from the three-point line as they led by as many as seven points late in the third quarter before the Nets outscored them by 31-21 in the fourth quarter to steal the game. With the loss, Memphis dropped to 19-51 overall and 5-28 on the road.
Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers have won seven of their past 10 games and they will be gunning for a fourth straight win after taking down the Hornets in a 108-94 home win on Monday. Joel Embiid led the team with 25 points and 19 rebounds, Marco Belinelli added 21 points off the bench, Robert Covington added 18 points while Ben Simmons racked up a triple-double of 11 points with 12 rebounds and 15 assists. As a team, the 76ers shot 45 percent from the field and 18 of 44 from the three-point line as they took control of the game with a dominant 32-14 third quarter effort after trailing by seven points at the half. With the dominant win, Philadelphia improved to 39-30 overall which is currently good for sixth place in the Eastern Conference standings.
Looking at the betting trends, the Grizzlies are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 road games, 1-5 ATS in their last six games following a loss and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall. Meanwhile, the 76ers are 11-3 ATS in their last 14 home games, 5-2 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record and 1-5 ATS in their last six games following a win of more than 10 points.
Head to head, the over is 4-1 in the last five meetings in Philadelphia and the Grizzlies are 6-2 ATS in the last eight meetings in Philadelphia.
The Grizzlies looked to be turning over a new leaf after snapping that 19-game losing streak but they fell back to earth with a narrow loss to the Nets so you wonder how motivated they are with so little to play for. Meanwhile, the 76ers have reeled off three straight wins and they have covered in 11 of their last 14 home games. With that being said, I like the 76ers to stay hot with another win and cover at home in this one.
