The Miami Heat and the New York Knicks collide at Madison Square Garden on Friday night.
The Miami Heat have been in a bit of a groove lately as they’ve won four of their last five games and they will be aiming for a third straight win after blowing past the Hawks in a 115-86 road win on Wednesday. Kelly Olynyk drained five 3-pointers to lead the team with 19 points, eight rebounds and five assists off the bench, Josh Richardon added 19 points as well while Justise Winslow chipped in with 18 points and five assists. As a team, the Heat shot 44 percent from the field and 17 of 38 from the three-point line as they easily took down the Hawks for the second time in as many nights. Dwyane Wade, Goran Dragic and James Johnson were all rested for the game as the Heat have clinched a playoff berth. With the win, Miami improved to 43-36 overall which is good for sixth place, but they’ll need to stay focused for the last three games of the season to avoid slipping to eighth place in the Eastern standings
Meanwhile, the New York Knicks have been in a real slump as they’ve lost six of their last seven games and they will be hoping to snap a four-game skid after falling tot eh Magic in a 97-73 home loss on Tuesday. Tim Hardaway Jr. led the team with 16 points, Trey Burke added 15 points with four assists while Kyle O’Quinn chipped in with 13 points, 12 rebounds and five blocks. As a team, the Knicks shot miserable figures of 34 percent from the field and four of 27 from the three-point line as they trailed by just one point going into halftime before getting outscored by 51-28 in the second half. With the loss, New York fell to 27-51 overall and 18-20 at home.
Looking at the betting trends, the Heat are 38-18-2 ATS in their last 58 road games, 3-12-3 ATS in their last 18 games following a win of more than 10 points and 9-4-3 ATS in their last 16 games following a win. Meanwhile, the Knicks are 5-13 ATS in their last 18 home games, 4-12 ATS in their last 16 games against a team with a winning record and 8-17 ATS in their last 25 games overall.
Head to head, the road team is 7-2 ATS in the last nine meetings, the Heat are 11-5 ATS in the last 16 meetings overall and 6-1 ATS in the last seven meetings in New York.
The Heat are building some momentum at the right time of the season and they will be fresh for this game as they rested three key players in their last game. The Heat are also 11-5 ATS in the last 16 meetings overall and 6- 1 ATS in the last seven meetings in New York so I’m sticking with Miami to stay on a roll with a big win here.
