Miami Heat vs. Toronto Raptors - 4/11/18 NBA Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

The Toronto Raptors have been in fine form as they’ve won 18 of their last 23 games and they will be gunning for a fifth straight win after taking down the Pistons in a 108-98 road win on Monday. Jonas Valanciunas led the team with 25 points on 11 of 13 shooting, DeMar DeRozan added 16 points with seven assists while Kyle Lowry chipped in with 11 points and nine assists. As a team, the Raptors shot 52 percent from the field and 12 of 39 from the three-point line as they trailed the Pistons by three points at halftime before dominating the second half by 51-38 to make it look easy in the end. With the win, Toronto improved to 59-22 overall which is good for first place in the Eastern Conference.

Meanwhile, the Miami Heat have been stumbling a little lately as they’ve lost five of their last nine games and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after falling to the Thunder in a 115-93 rout on Monday. Josh Richardson led the team with 18 points, Hassan Whiteside added 16 points while Tyler Johnson chipped in with 12 points. As a team, the Heat shot just 46 percent from the field and a miserable five of 22 from the three-point line as they wrestled with the Thunder for three tight quarters before the fourth quarter where they were outscored by an amazing 39-12. With the loss, Miami dropped to 43-38 overall which is good for seventh place in the Eastern Conference standings.

Looking at the betting trends, the Raptors are 1-4 ATS in their last five road games, 2-6 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a winning record and 3-0-1 ATS in their last four games overall. Meanwhile, the Heat are 0-4 ATS in their last four home games, 16-4-3 ATS in their last 23 games against a team with a winning record and 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall.

Head to head, the road team is 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings, the under is 5-1 in the last six meetings and the Raptors are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings.

The Heat really need this win to avoid falling to the eighth spot as the Wizards currently hold an identical record but they’ve been out of sorts lately with three losses in their last five games. The Raptors have been in great form but they really don’t have much to play for with the number one seed already clinched, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see coach Casey rest a player or two in this spot. The Heat are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings and they’ve already beaten the Raptors once in two meetings this season, so I’m sticking with the Heat to get the win here.
