Golden State Warriors at New Orleans Pelicans - 5/4/18 Game 3 NBA Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

The New Orleans Pelicans need a victory here in order to have any chance of getting back into this series. The New Orleans Pelicans are averaging 112.5 points on 49.4 percent shooting and allowing 111 points on 46.2 percent shooting. Anthony Davis is averaging 29.7 points and 12 rebounds while Jrue Holiday is averaging 24.3 points and 6.3 assists. Nikola Mirotic is the third double-digit scorer and Rajon Rondo is dishing 12.7 assists. The New Orleans Pelicans are shooting 37.7 percent from beyond the arc and 78.5 percent from the free throw line. The New Orleans Pelicans are allowing 34.2 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 43.5 rebounds per game. The New Orleans Pelicans have won eight of their last 10 home games.

The Warriors are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games playing on 2 days rest and 4-13 ATS in their last 17 games following a straight up win. The Pelicans are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home games, 2-5 ATS in their last 7 Conference Semifinals games and 10-1 ATS in their last 11 games overall. The over is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in New Orleans and 4-0 in the last 4 meetings.

I really want the New Orleans Pelicans to put up a fight and make this a series, and they should be much better at home. In two playoff games against the Trail Blazers, the Pelicans outscored them by a combined 25 points. The problem is the Warriors a different animal at full strength and make things look too easy. While the Pelicans have to work hard for their shots and play pretty much a perfect game, the Warriors can play a subpar game by their standards and still win by eight or nine points. There's just too much that has to go right for the Pelicans to win a single game in this series, and I'm just not willing to put money on it. The Golden State Warriors and the small chalk seems like the play here.
