The Charlotte Hornets take the hardwood with the Boston Celtics in NBA action on Saturday.
The Boston Celtics fell short at both ends of the floor in a 104-97 loss to Charlotte to begin the NBA preseason. Boston saw balanced scoring with four players scoring in double figures but the team hit on just 34.6% of their looks including a dismal 9-47 from long range.
Jaylen Brown topped the Celtics offense with 14 points on 5-13 shooting while Marcus Morris came off the bench to total 12 points on 5-11 from the floor. Terry Rozier and Gordon Hayward netted eleven and ten points respectively but Boston never found any consistency after a 37 point first quarter.
The Charlotte Hornets fell behind by 17 points in the opening quarter before a second half rally carried them past the Celtics in the preseason opener for both squads. Charlotte hit shots at 38.2% and were 25-39 from the charity stripe which was enough to get by the cold shooting Celtics.
The Hornets featured seven players scoring in double figures with Jeremy Lamb tossing in a game high 15 points on 5-8 from the floor while Cody Zeller netted 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Kemba Walker and Dwayne Bacon added 12 and eleven points while three others gave the Hornets ten points apiece with Michael Kidd-Gilchrist hauling in a game high 12 rebounds.
Hornets are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games playing on 1 days rest and Hornets are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 Sunday games and Hornets are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games overall. Under is 4-0 in Celtics last 4 home games and Celtics are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall and Celtics are 19-7 ATS in their last 26 home games. Hornets are 0-3-1 ATS in the last 4 meetings in Boston and Hornets are 3-12-1 ATS in the last 16 meetings.
The Celtics shot the ball poorly in the opener versus Charlotte and still lost by ‘just’ seven so I would expect a better effort in the rematch…
