Goran Dragic is averaging 26 points and four assists while Josh Richardson is averaging 21 points and five rebounds. Hassan Whiteside is the third double-digit scorer and Rodney McGruder is dishing three assists. The Miami Heat are shooting 27.3 percent from beyond the arc and 72.7 percent from the free throw line. The Miami Heat are allowing 28 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 52 rebounds per game. The Miami Heat have lost six of their last eight road games.

The Washington Wizards have a chance to make the playoffs three years in a row for the first time since Eddie Jordan was coach, and they have to believe they can make that jump in the wide open East. Once again, the Wizards have one of the top backcourts in the league in John Wall and Bradley Beal, but it comes down to the depth around them in order to improve on past years. Adding Dwight Howard, Jeff Green and Austin Rivers certainly help, but I’m looking for guys such as Otto Porter and Kelly Oubre Jr. to take that next step. We know what the Wizards are capable of in moments, and when their star guards are clicking, they’re one of the more fun teams to watch in the East. It’s a matter of depth and consistency that will turn the Wizards from a boarderline playoff team to a club that can push the rest of the pack. The Washington Wizards have lost six of their last eight regular season openers.
The Heat are 19-6-1 ATS in their last 26 games playing on 0 days rest, 1-5 ATS in their last 6 Thursday games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Wizards are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 vs. Eastern Conference, 5-2 ATS in their last 7 home games and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games overall. The Heat are 23-8-2 ATS in the last 33 meetings in Washington, 6-2-1 ATS in the last 9 meetings and the over is 12-5 in the last 17 meetings.
The Miami Heat are banged up with injuries and playing with a limited roster, which isn't something you want to do on the end of a back to back. This is a brutal schedule spot for the Heat this early in the season and we're sure to see tired legs. The Washington Wizards have a history of losing games they shouldn't lose, but this a more than winnable game opening night at home. I'll eat the chalk.
